what do oyu all htink virtually modernistic podge? i apply a ton of it in my collage paintings. they consist of wax newspaper and oil paint, i use the modern podge as a gum ofr the newspaper and as a finish for the entire painting when complete. anyone accept any suggestions on a better material than modern podge?

Modern Podge is basically glue. I'm not sure if it is archival, merely a search on the Internet should give more details about that. Delight post some of your work because your method sounds very interesting! One small suggestion: use of the spell check feature on the posting page will make for much easier reading by others.
I use polyurethene a lot to coat my piece of work, and I can work on height of it then layer more on. Information technology gives the work depth. I don't intendance much for modge podge. My husband uses epoxy with his piece of work on retentiveness boxes.
Acrylic Gel medium is great for gluing things down, and it is archival.

I'1000 with the others on using gel medium, polyurethene, etc.
This is quite luminescent and beautiful. It looks very 3 D. Is information technology ?
Nice work.

Stunningly beautiful, Eric ! It does make me call back of opals forming eons ago.
This looks Cracking!! Very interesting and beautiful textural quality to this slice. Equally for Modernistic podge – pardon my ignorance – just I've never heard of the stuff – and so I can't really comment- however I besides work in mixed media and use as the others have suggested an Acryic gel medium or a folder medium which tin be used with oils and acrylics. I know these products are Archival – and I concord with Mary – that some research on modernistic podge and its properties would be a wise idea- because it would exist such a shame- if all your difficult piece of work and beautiful results basically deteriorated – in some cases over a very brusk period of fourth dimension. It would be such a waste! Not to mention very disgruntled and unhappy future owners of your piece of work!
In the meantime Well Done! I love your slice!!
Cheers Dahzl:D

Hi all
I am usually in the acrylic forum – but was just browsing a bit – I am interested in eventually including some mixed media in my paintings. Liquitex Matte Medium is acrylic polymer – i.east. plastic and can be used alone or mixed direct with acrylic pigment and works great as a glue for collage. Of course y'all would let information technology dry out completely earlier painting over it – or your oil would be completely dry before collaging over information technology I assume. Sooooo yous are non mixing it with your oils.
I have Modernistic Podge, but would but apply it with craft projects – I would never trust it with collage on canvas – don't think it is archival. Likewise you should utilise an advisable varnish for oils as your final glaze (I don't use oils so can't comment on that – probably need to cheque in the Oil Painting Forum for that).
Your work is absolutely beautiful……you should make certain that it will last for a very long fourth dimension.
